Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation

After a cardiac event or for those with lung and vascular disease, our goal is to improve your health and quality of life.

Our multidisciplinary rehab program focuses on:

  • Your highest level of cardiopulmonary fitness
  • Education
  • Nutrition Counseling
  • Support Groups to help you adapt to a new way of living or maintain a better state of health
  • Healthy Living Programs

We review your needs, be they medical, dietary, social or emotional, so that together, we can tailor the best course of treatment for you.

Cardiac Rehabilitation starts with a comprehensive program of exercise, education and support offered at Frick and Latrobe hospitals as well as our Excela Square at Norwin location. But, it all really starts at your bedside, often within 24 to 48 hours after a cardiac event and continues after you are discharged. Continuing exercise is encouraged through our maintenance programs either at our facilities, at home or a fitness facility of your choice.

For those with pacemakers and other implantable devices, we offer the Pacemaker Clinic and at-home monitoring education.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation, for those with emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma or other lung disease, is a supervised eight- to 12-week program of exercise and education to help you improve muscle tone, regain or sustain the ability to exercise, and increase participation in activities of daily living.

A doctor’s referral is needed for our rehabilitation programs, but we can help you with a referral. We look forward to helping you live a life of the highest quality here at, Excela Health's Heart, Lung & Vascular Institute.
