  • Breastfeeding Education Class in Butler

    This is a 2-hour class for anyone who is considering breastfeeding. A lot of information is covered in this class, including: benefits to breastfeeding, how breast milk is made, proper technique, ways to support the breastfeeding mom, tips and tricks to make breastfeeding successful, common concerns with breastfeeding, potential problems, and information about pumping and storing breastmilk. This class can help participants decide if breastfeeding is right for them. Each participant is encouraged to bring a significant other. The cost of the class is $40, which will be collected electronically during online registration. A pre registration link will be sent a few days before the class. Financial assistance is available—simply inform the instructor if needed. Each class accommodates up to 11 participants.

    This is a 2-hour LIVE Virtual class for anyone who is considering breastfeeding. A lot of information is covered in this class, including: benefits to breastfeeding, how breast milk is made, proper technique, ways to support the breastfeeding mom, tips and tricks to make breastfeeding successful, common concerns with breastfeeding, potential problems, and information about pumping and storing breastmilk. This class can help participants decide if breastfeeding is right for them.

    There is a $40 fee for this class, which will be collected electronically when the participant registers through our online registration platform. Once you have pre-registered online and payment has been received, the day of your class, the staff will send you the Microsoft Teams link to join the LIVE Virtual class for your chosen date. Financial assistance is available—simply inform the instructor if needed.

  • Preparing for Labor and Birth: Natural Births and Postpartum

    This live in person class will provide information and practice time on techniques used to provide comfort for a natural birth including massage, breathing, hydrotherapy, relaxation, and much more. Also includes information on postpartum recovery and what to expect the first 6 weeks after you have your baby. $30 per pair. 

    Payments will be collected the night of the class as a check or exact cash.

    Join Independence Health System Mall Walkers at Westmoreland Mall in the food court. The doors open at 7:45 a.m. Each month features a different health related topic and presentation. You'll have the chance to ask questions and walk through the mall to get your steps in! There is no cost to join.
    Meetings take place the fourth Thursday of each month, March through October and the third Thursday in November.

Some of the topics include: feeding, preparing bottles, diapering and diaper rash care, bathing, and calming a crying baby. Time is spent going over car seat installation, baby proofing your house, and when to call the doctor. $30 a pair.

    October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
    Independence Health System would like to invite you to our annual remembrance event where we remember those babies that couldn’t stay and come together to support the families that love them. All are welcome.
    Loved ones (parents and children alike) will have the opportunity to create a white pumpkin in remembrance of their little one. Light refreshments will be served. Community organizations will be on hand with information.
