Radiation Oncology
Radiation Oncology Westmoreland County
At the Arnold Palmer Cencer Center, we are dedicated to creating a comfortable, anxiety-free experience for each patient. Through an interdisciplinary approach, we treat patients with a wide range of cancers, some of which were considered inoperable. Our radiation therapy department offers state-of-the-art technology, including PET/CT scans and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), offering pinpoint accuracy and sparing surrounding healthy tissue from damage.
Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) targets the tumor, using computer-generated images to plan and focus a highly precise dose of radiation to individually-targeted sections of the tumor, so higher doses of radiation can be delivered to more irregular tumor volumes.
Prior to treatment, the PET/CT may be used to detect small cancers even before visible structural changes become evident, providing more data in less time and leading to faster, more accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment monitoring.
Most importantly, our goal is not only to treat the cancer, but to care for the patient and his family in a healing, positive environment
