At this time Excela Health is not administering any version of the COVID-19
vaccine. Vaccination is very important to prevent the spread of infections
and is readily available at many retail pharmacy locations.

Vaccines are working and are our best defense against COVID-19. Protection
from your initial shots may decrease over time. Booster shots are available
and are an easy way to keep your protection going strong.
Vaccines are currently available for those six months and older and boosters
are available for those age 12 and older. If you have a question about
vaccinations or about boosters, please call your primary care physician
or pediatrician for additional information or visit the
PA Department of Health website for up-to-date information.
COVID-19 vaccines are widely available at retail pharmacies. Excela Health
physician offices do not administer the vaccine. Please contact your local
pharmacy to inquire about vaccination appointments/availability.
There are currently three approved COVID-19 vaccine brands: Pfizer (Comirnaty),
Moderna (Spikevax) and Johnson & Johnson (Jansen).
Pfizer
(Comirnaty) Vaccine Information:
Initial two-dose series of vaccination is available for anyone six months of age or older, two doses at least
three weeks apart.
A third dose is available to immunocompromised individuals five years of age or older
at least 28 days after second dose. Please contact your physician with
any questions.
A booster dose is recommended for anyone 12 years of age or older, at least five months
after completion of your initial series (second dose). Moderately to severely
immunocompromised patients ages 12 and older may receive a booster dose
3 months after completion of their primary series.
A second booster dose is recommended for immunocompromised individuals and those over the age
of 50 who received an initial booster dose at least four months ago. If
you have questions, please contact your primary care provider to determine
if a second COVID-19 booster dose is advisable at this time.

Moderna
(Spikevax)
Vaccine Information:
Initial two-dose series is available for individuals six months of age
and older, two doses at least one month apart.
A first Moderna COVID‑19 Vaccine booster dose may be administered intramuscularly at least 5
months after completing a primary series of the Moderna COVID‑19 Vaccine or spikevax (COVID-19 Vaccine, mRNA) to individuals 18 years
of age or older.
A second booster dose of the Moderna COVID 19 Vaccine may be administered to individuals 50 years
of age and older at least 4 months after receipt of a first booster dose
of any authorized or approved COVID 19 vaccine.
A second booster dose of the Moderna COVID 19 Vaccine may be administered at least 4 months after
receipt of a first booster dose of any authorized or approved COVID 19
vaccine to individuals 18 years of age and older with certain kinds of
immunocompromise.

Johnson and Johnson (Jansen) Vaccine Information:
Administered as an initial single dose, the FDA has authorized the emergency use of the Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine
in individuals 18 years of age and older
A single booster dose of the Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine may be administered at least two months
after primary vaccination with the Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine.
