Meet registered nurse, Maggie Brown. Maggie works in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Westmoreland Hospital. She has been a nurse for more than three years, and with Excela Health for almost two. Maggie describes her role on the patient care team as being an advocate and motivator for the patient.
"I help take care of them from the time they come down from operating room to the ICU, often until they are ready to go home after their surgery. I will help educate them, encourage them to go on walks and stay active, and make sure they are in the best position to recover after their surgery."
Her favorite part of her job "is seeing patients recover and make daily improvements. Seeing a patient go through their entire hospital stay after open heart surgery and come out the other end stronger than before is very rewarding."
