GREENSBURG, PA, April 1, 2018 …Excela Health Home Care and Hospice will host a continuing education course on May 17 at Excela Square at Latrobe, 100 Excela Health Drive. The theme for this class is “The Ethical Bridge in Patient-Centered Care: Navigating Across Cultural and Religious Diversity.”
Patient-centered care is driven in part by the ethical principles of autonomy and
considers patients’ cultural traditions, personal preferences, values, family situations, and lifestyles. Understanding and accepting cultural and religious diversity in the care setting allows patients to be equal partners in planning, developing, and monitoring treatment to make sure it meshes with their customs and beliefs.
This class will provide information on how to bridge the ethical gap in patient-centered
care that acknowledges and affirms differences.
During this class 4.5 CEU credits are available for people who are involved in social
work and nursing, with applicable fees for those seeking credits. Inquire when registering. RSVP by May 5 by contacting Cindy Paul at, cpaul@excelahealth.org, or call 724-689-1479.
