The Westmoreland/Frick Hospital Foundation raises funds for the primary
purpose of supporting the essential life-saving work at Westmoreland and
Frick Hospitals. The Foundation distributes monies to enhance services,
acquire new equipment and technology, and aid in vital programs for the
communities we serve. To date, the Foundation has distributed more than
$10 million to make capital and technology improvements at Frick and Westmoreland
Hospitals.
Monies are raised through special events as well as through major gifts,
bequests, donations, and other similar means so that quality health care
continues in the local communities. But the need for continued support
is constant.
Created in 1976, the Westmoreland Hospital Foundation kept the wheels turning
so that local, high quality health care remains for generations to come.
With the addition of Frick Hospital to the health system in 2000, the
Westmoreland/Frick Hospital Foundation was formed in 2002 and acts as
a singular 501(c)(3) organization with its primary activities supporting
both hospitals.
Governed by a board of trustees who are community volunteers ─ business
and industry leaders, heads of organizations, public servants, and well-minded
citizens ─ the Foundation pursues its philanthropic endeavors knowing
the success of the hospitals is tied to the success of the Foundation.
These board members also share in the mission and vision of Independence
Health System and are poised to keep pace with the demands brought about
by patient need and the hospitals’ quest to offer the highest level
of care and technology possible. Additionally, the Foundation is a steward
of donated funds that aid in bringing the most advanced medical care to
the region, a stewardship that is no small task.
To accomplish the objective of garnering support, this Foundation has developed
meaningful relationships with the community-at-large. This commitment
also involves an intimate knowledge of what local communities need in
terms of health care and necessitates the establishment of a continuing
financial commitment through the generosity of those personal, community
relationships. Without that community support, our Foundation could not
focus on its greatest goal – to help Independence Health System
provide “Expert Care. Here.”
