Ways to Donate
Opportunities to Make a Difference
There are many ways that YOU can help improve health and well-being, right here in our community.
Gifts may be made in MEMORY or in HONOR of a person, family, group or an organization important to you. Perhaps you’d like to support a particular project or a specific health care program. Unrestricted gifts are applied to the most urgent or currents needs at Excela Health. When making a gift in any form, please specify either the Latrobe Area Hospital Charitable Foundation or the Westmoreland/Frick Hospital Foundation.
ALL charitable donors receive a thank you letter for their generosity, which also serves as a tax deductible receipt.
Gifts of Cash
Donations in the form of checks or cash may be made at any time. Cash donations may be applied to specific needs or may be made as unrestricted gifts. Online donations using a credit card may be made by clicking here.
Matching Gifts
Many employers will match donations to the Foundations, which increases your donation to us. You can contact the Human Resources department at your workplace to learn more about any options they offer. While companies have their own processes, it is not unusual that the process begins with a donor requesting a Matching Gift Form from the company. This completed form is sent to us where the donation is verified and returned to the employer so they can issue the matching donation.
Gifts in Kind
In addition to the outpouring of financial support during the COVID19 Pandemic donations in the form of much needed supplies, food and PPE came into the Foundation. That is a wonderful example of donors providing specific essential items instead of cash. Please contact the Foundation Office at 724-537-1925 if you have helpful gifts in kind, which you would like to donate.
Payroll Deduction for Excela Health Employees
We are always grateful when our employees choose to support the Foundations! Employees who want to support the efforts of the Foundation may conveniently do so through payroll deduction. Please call the Foundation office at 724-537-1925 to obtain a form in order to support the hospital through payroll deduction.
Gifts of Securities
Consider donating appreciated stock, mutual funds, bonds or other securities. Your tax preparer or attorney can review the substantial tax benefits to you by gifting securities to the Charitable Foundation.
Bequests
Designate a gift in the amount of your choice, in your will or living trust. After the donor of the future bequest signs a “Letter of Intent” the Charitable Foundation immediately recognizes the donor so that they may be properly thanked in their lifetime.
Gifts of Life Insurance
You may find that as time passes, the need for the security that life insurance provides, lessens. Donors who make a gift of a paid-up policy receive an immediate tax deduction. If premiums are still due on a policy, the donation and tax deduction then equals the cash-surrender value. The Foundations may also be listed as a beneficiary on a life insurance policy.
Charitable Lead Trust
The Foundation can help you create a Charitable Trust that pays fixed or variable income to the Charitable Foundation for a set numbers of years, with the principle retained for your heirs. Both trust options—The Charitable Lead Annuity Trust or the Charitable Lead Unitrust both help reduce gift and estate taxes on your assets.
Gifts of Real Estate (with restrictions)
The Charitable Foundation gratefully accepts gifts of property. If you’d like to donate property the Foundation will first provide you with a complete list of restrictions associated with this type of philanthropy.
Volunteer!
Please consider sharing your time as well as your treasure with the Foundations. The Foundations appreciate help with special events, office assistance, call us at 724-537-1925 to learn more.
